What is flickbites.com?
The mission of flickbites.com is to show great movie scenes (mainly opening scenes). It is also a community website, where visitors can vote on the scenes, discuss them, and propose new scenes to be included.
What kind of scenes can be included?
We do currently focus on opening scenes, partly because this guarantees the scene can be understood by itself, partly because this is a very special and interesting part of the art of movie making.
Scenes typically last 2 to 5 minutes. There will of course be exceptions to those rules!
We try to select scenes that are exceptionally good in some way, whether it's by being funny, dramatic, beautiful, ... Even exceptionally bad scenes can be interesting and fun to watch!
What about copyright?
The presentation of movie scenes on flickbites is legal under the doctrine of fair use because the sequences are only small portions of the full movies. Therefore, they do not diminish the value of the copyrighted movies. Actually, we believe some of them might make you want to go and buy or rent the DVD to watch the full movie, or see it at your local theater!
Where does the name flickbites come from?
It is based on soundbites, but for flicks (slang for films/movies). Therefore, flickbites are key moments in movies.
